Brett & KateKate and Brett in RomeWelcome to Foreign Detours. This blog chronicles the ongoing travel adventures of two twenty-somethings Brett and Kate. Brett and Kate met in Rhode Island, married in Florida, honeymooned in Puerto Rico, lived in Boston, moved to Indiana, vacationed in Mexico, traveled to Panama, backpacked in Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia, road tripped across the USA and are currently on a series of foreign detours.

BrettBrettBRETT enjoys documenting life through photographs and prefers to make his pancakes from scratch. He wants to someday visit all seven continents, believes in hard work and wouldn’t mind season tickets to the Yankees. He thinks that life is a balance between careful planning and bursts of spontaneity.
Brett grew up in New England, has a degree in French and still cherishes the day that he paid off his student loans. He has one brother (younger yet taller), loves sailing, baking, vegetarian food and can’t imagine the day that he will tire of travel.

KATE is a master planner and skilled packer, who enjoys reaching a goal. She thinks everyone would be happier if they smiled more, likes snorkeling and believes that less is more. She loves chocolate, believes in planning ahead and dislikes burnt popcorn. KateKate
Kate grew up in the suburbs of Indianapolis, received a degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies and has one sister (older and wiser). She can’t get enough time with her niece Marilyn and nephew Spencer, loves time spent with family and feels very fortunate that they are so understanding of her desire to travel the world.
