We have explored two different sections of Canada. Our first Canadian adventure was during the summer of 2008 when we invaded Montreal for a few days. We rented an apartment in downtown Montreal and explored the expansive city by foot and subway. We hiked to the top of Mont’real and really enjoyed the city.

Our second Canadian invasion was on our Spring/Summer 2009 USA Roadtrip. We entered British Columbia due north of Seattle and spent the day exploring Vancouver. There was a lot of construction in preparation for the upcoming winter Olympic games, but it was a treat to explore. We were lucky enough to see a 3 day old newborn baby Beluga whale at the Vancouver Aquarium. From Vancouver we took off eastward bound exploring British columbia for several hundred miles before re-entering the US north of Spokane, Washington.

We took a weeklong trip to Panama over Thanksgiving in 2005. We spent part of the week exploring Panama City and the remaining portion staying at a B&B on Isla Taboga, a short ferry ride away. We enjoyed Panama City, but loved our time on Taboga. It is a small island with no vehicles built up onto the hillside of a small island in the Pacific with views of the Panama Canal.

We visited Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a long weekend in February of 2005. We stayed just off the Malecon and loved the Bustamante sculptures decorating the boardwalk. It was a bit cold and rainy during our stay; but it was still nice to get away. Kate had been to Puerto Vallarta before, back in 2001 when she was on a 3 week Spanish language intensive course with Butler University in Guadalajara. The boardwalk had been redone, but all else pretty much seemed the same.

We visited Puerto Rico in August of 2004 for a week long vacation – actually our honeymoon. It was hot, around 100, but a very nice breeze was coming off of the ocean. We stayed in Old San Juan in a cute little hotel and took on the old city by foot. We rented a car for a day trip to El Yunque Caribbean Rain Forest. We had a great day for it and summited the highest peak, El Yunque. We have considered going back several times, but just haven’t made it back yet.
